My work is essentially topical political and social satire. My most recent drawings and mixed-media work read as invented sardonic scenarios that are meant to unearth something poetically truthful about the subjects in question. For example, Mitch McConnell, Majority Leader and champion of the religious right, engages in objectionable behavior with questionable cohorts while Antonin Scalia abuses and disrespects his own body while attempting to control the bodies of all American women.
My more labored paintings examine America’s class structure functioning as a circus of dysfunction and folly. At times, my characters manifest fantastical pathological conditions that become outward expressions of psychopathological states. Acting as a form of social critique and self-reflection, the work comments on restrictive and unjust social conventions.
