Harmon uses a variety of media from cast cement, fired clay, glass, wax and mixed media and incorporates sound and light in her sculptural installations. Her work explores psychological journeys created by merging architecture, landscape and references to the human body.
About Joan Harmon:
Joan Harmon holds a Bachelors degree from the California College of Art and a Masters degree in Drawing and Sculpture from Rutgers University. Recent awards include a Fellowship award from The Creative Glass Center of America, Wheaton Art Center and an Artist grant from the Sari Dienes Foundation.
Harmon teaches Sculpture, Drawing, Art Appreciation and Critical Thinking at the City University of New York.
She lives and works in NYC and has her studio in Haverstraw, NY.
